Syksy on saapunut. The fall has arrived. The end of October brings chillier winds, under the mid-day sun the temperature is only a bit over 15 degrees Celcius and a jacket is finally useful during the night hours of darkness. A few rains and magnificent thunderstorms have passed by. Colourful leaves are starting to fall from the trees and luckily the ambiance is not ruined by dreadful orange plasticthings but the yards are cleaned of leaves as well as trash with brooms. Oh, the paradise!

Bibimbap
Erityisesti kuumassa kivikulhossa oleva tulee sekottaa nopeasti, ettei riisi pala pohjaan! Bibimbap maksaa yleensä n. 3,000-5,000 wonia (n. 2-3 euroa), kallimpaa syödessäsi olet luultavasti turistialueella ja kannattaa siirtyä pari korttelia kauemmas..
Bibimbap (비빔밥) is considered one of Korea's national foods. In some book I read that this food represents the cultural mix of Korea. In bibimbap there is rice (bap), vegetables (salad, bean sprouts, carrot...) and fried egg. In addition it might have tuna or minced meat. Bibimbap is often a safe choice also for people who don't eat spicy food. In most restaurants you can add spice (and flavourm, because bibimbap doesn't usually have any other spices), yourself from a red bottle (but be careful, the sauce is not ketchup!:) In some places the spicy sauce is however added straight to the food, so be careful. Bibimbap should be mixed as soon as it's arrives to the table. This is especially crucial if you order bibimbap in a hot stone pot - the rice at the bottom burns easily. One can find bibimbap in basically any korean restaurant. It costs normally around 3,000-5,000 won (2-3 euros). If you get more expensive bibimbap, you're probably at a tourist area and should walk a couple of blocks the other way.

Chuseok
Chuseok (추석) on korealainen sadonkorjuujuhla, jota juhlitaan kuukalenterin mukaan kahdeksannen kuukauden viidentenätoista päivänä.
Chuseok (추석) is a Korean harvest holiday, which is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month by the lunar calendar. This year Chuseok was celebrated on the weekend 2.-4.10. Chuseok (or Hangawi or Thanksgiving Day of Korea) is a celebration of respect to ancesters. Food plays a big role in this feast. The women of the family prepare food for days and it is enjoyed with family and offered to the ancestors of the family. Another festivities include traditional games, such as Yut Nori (in the picture), where you throw special sticks like dice and move on a simple game board. In different regions there are different traditional games, such as archery, dancing and wrestling. Because every one heads for their home towns during Chuseok, there might be bad jams on the roads.
